Their newspaper and magazine holdings are quite extensive, including 25 papers in Australia, six in the UK, and 3 major papers in the US: New York Post, The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones.

In publishing Newscorp owns HarperCollins, which has bought and integrated several other publishing companies to become an international giant of the industry.

Newscorp also owns MySpace.com, AskMen.com, AmericanIdol.com, 45% of Hulu.com, rottentomatoes.com, scout.com, IGN Entertainment and many other properties.

Originally founded by Rupert Murdoch in Australia, Newscorp grew quickly through the 80s and 90s into one of the most power companies in the world. While normally an Australian such as Rupert Murdoch could not own such a vast property of American television, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1985. (3)
